Originally from a beautiful village in Punjab, Bawa Vikram Singh Dhesi moved to Vancouver in 1999.
After arriving in Canada, Bawa started a small cleanup business and later became a renovation professional, learning the ins and outs of property maintenance, safety challenges, and the importance of proper material handling along the way.
Bawa founded Vancouver Asbestos Removal™ with a clear vision: to make homes safer and help companies handle asbestos abatement the right way, following all WorkSafeBC regulations and industry best practices.
He holds a B.A. and LL.B from Panjab University, and his legal education gives him a strong sense of responsibility and regulatory compliance.
Bawa is also Level 2 and Level 3 certified in the Analysis of Asbestos Fibers using Phase Contrast Microscopy (NIOSH 582 equivalent) and has completed the Building Services Worker (B.S.W.) certification, bringing both knowledge and discipline to every project.
For over two decades, Bawa has built a reputation for professionalism, honesty, and safety-first leadership.

Our Asbestos Abatement Process
1. Inspection & Lab Testing
We start with a professional site assessment and collect material samples. These are sent to a certified lab to confirm the presence and type of asbestos.
2. Containment & Preparation
We seal off affected areas using industry-standard containment systems and negative air pressure to protect surrounding spaces during removal.
3. Safe Removal & Disposal
Our licensed technicians remove asbestos safely, following WorkSafeBC protocols. Waste is double-bagged and disposed of at approved hazardous waste facilities.
4. Final Clearance & Report
A final inspection ensures the site is safe. We can arrange third-party air clearance testing and provide full documentation for your records or compliance.
Types of Asbestos-Containing Materials We Remove
Drywall and Joint Compound
In homes built before 1990, drywall and joint compound may contain asbestos. If walls are cut, sanded, or removed during renovations, asbestos fibers can be released into your home’s air. Our team is trained to safely handle and remove asbestos-containing drywall to keep your family safe.
Pipe Lagging and Pipe Insulation
Asbestos was commonly used to insulate pipes in older homes. The material, called pipe lagging, helps prevent heat loss but can release asbestos fibers if disturbed. We provide safe asbestos removal for pipe insulation to prevent exposure during plumbing repairs or renovations.
Black Mastic and Adhesives (Tile Mastic)
Black mastic is a glue often used to attach vinyl tiles and other flooring materials. Many older types of black mastic contain asbestos.
